A Bright Future for Every Child

BC Programs

BC Academy is a special school that helps children learn and grow. We’ve been helping kids since 2013, and our goal is to guide them from being little ones to successful adults.

We have 5 special programs to help your child.

A Personalized Learning Journey for Every Child

At BC Academy, we understand that every child with special needs is unique. That’s why we offer a range of programs designed to help children with conditions like Global Developmental Delay (GDD), ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia learn in the most effective way possible.

Our approach is based on breaking down complex tasks into smaller, easier-to-understand steps. This helps children learn at their own pace and grasp new concepts more easily. We tailor our programs to each child’s individual needs, ensuring that they receive the support they require.

Our experienced teachers are trained to connect with students on a personal level, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. With customized teaching materials and a focus on building independence, we help children develop essential skills and prepare for a bright future.

Over the past decade, BC Academy has become a leading provider of special needs education in Malaysia. We’ve partnered with experts in fields like Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi), Pre-Vocational Training (Rainbow Center), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Orton Gillingham Approach, and J8autism Athletics to offer even more comprehensive support to our students.

If you’re looking for a school that truly understands your child’s unique needs and provides personalized support, BC Academy is the perfect choice.

BC School Readiness Program

School Readiness Program is essentially a Pre-school program that caters for young children typically at the age of 3 onwards. This program is designed to help children with challenges to adapt to the basic requirements and environment of a typical classroom situation.

The key objective is to ensure that the child is trained early to be able to focus and conduct table tasks for a specific period. Here the students learn about social and life skills etiquette.

  • Academic Intervention – Core subjects (English, Mathematics and Science) are taught according to the student’s learning method.
  • Early Literacy – Students will be exposed to the Orton-Gillingham approach, which teaches the connections between letters and sounds.
  • Physical Intervention – Neuro exercises, gymnastic and RMTi (Rhythmic Movement Training) are incorporated into the programme to promote left and right brain development.
  • Behaviour Management – For students who need further behavioural intervention, ABA (Applied behaviour analysis) can be incorporated in their daily programme.
  • Social Integration – Direct and explicit instruction in realistic settings to improve social cues and interaction, fostering positive social relationships.

BC Pre / Primary Program

The IEP is prepared specifically for each student based on an assessment on their current level. It is structured to include academic subjects such as English, Mathematics and Sciences. Their learning materials are prepared independently based on the IGCSE syllabus. The materials and teaching methods are designed to enhance the understanding process of the subject matter.

Included is also the Basic Life Skills Program that is essential for each student to become more inclusive into society. Here, they learn how to take care of themselves, how to eat healthily, understanding and caring for people and the environment, how to behave, communicate and interact with others as well as to be aware of different types of danger and how to be safe.

03

BC Functional and Pre-Vocational Program

For students who are not planning to pursue the academic path, they will be encouraged to join this program, which was specially developed by BC and Rainbow Centre, Singapore.

This was developed with the 6 domains of a good-life in mind: Independent, Connected, Engaged, Safe, Healthy, Included and Heard.

Each student will be guided through the following subjects: Functional English, Mathematics and Science; as well as prevocational subjects such food and beverages, office management, retail, flower arrangements and etc.

This program is catered to connect and provide a voice to the student, for him/her to independently select a preferred industry to work in. Throughout the program, various workplace situations are introduced to the student and a basic training of the work responsibilities are also carried out.

The flagship program for our pre-vocational training is Office Management, Kitchen Training and Warehouse Management.

04

BC Academy Employment Program

The employment program would require support from the various parties which could include the Private Sector as well as the Government Sector.

Relationships are established with all parties involved to provide and opportunity for employability to our students. Job availability and requirements are shared and detailed for us to dissect and understand its responsibility and deliverables.

This will lead to in-school training for the selected students for the on-site job preparation. An awareness program will also be conducted for potential employers to better understand different situations with working with a person with special needs.

05

BC A.C.E Program

The ACE program is an American curriculum. Each student entering the program is given diagnostic tests to determine skill and concept mastery. The tests will determine the student’s academic needs in each subject, and will be given curriculum that meets and challenges him at his performance level.

How does this program benefit students with challenges?

  • The curriculum covers grade 1 to 12, hence students are guided from primary to secondary (Once the student has completed year 7, he/she will be given a certificate of completion by BC, and will be advised to join our feeder mainstream school).
  • It is based on the method of learner-centred at BC, meaning each student is encouraged to set daily study goals, so that they can progress academically at their own individual pace.
  • Our certified Ace educator will work with each student based on their individual learning style. One to one attention will be given to student who needs more complex learning.
  • Students are encouraged to strive under a relaxed and engaging space, and a non-competitive environment.
  • Pre-vocational programs will be incorporated into the student’s ACE schedule, where they will be exposed to activities such as office management, food and beverages, and other alternative skills.

BC Kare Project

The BCKare Project is designed to support families managing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by providing parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools necessary to better care for their children at home. Through hands-on, practical workshops, participants are equipped to address the various challenges associated with ASD.

Key elements of the workshop include :

  • Receptive and Cognitive Function: Enhancing understanding and processing skills in children with ASD.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA): Teaching behavioral techniques that can be implemented at home.
  • Rhythmic Movement Therapy (RMT): Using rhythmic movement to improve motor skills and emotional regulation.
  • Sports and Exercise Therapy: Incorporating physical activity to boost physical health and mental well-being.
  • Nutrition and Dietary Programs: Focusing on tailored nutrition plans that may benefit children with ASD.

What makes these workshops unique is their focus on being practical and plug-and-play. Attendees receive both a manual and tools, enabling them to easily apply the methods learned in their home environment. The overarching goal is to empower parents to implement strategies immediately and effectively.

The BCKare Project is sponsored by the NGO “On Our Own”, which has been supporting the ASD community for years. Other key collaborators include Miles Autism, RMTi, J8 Athletics, and doctors who bring specialized expertise. Together, the project aims to continue giving back to families with children on the autism spectrum.

This initiative can make a real difference by empowering families to handle everyday challenges more confidently and effectively.
